2 Overall Staff Expectations “Surround yourself with the best people you can find, delegate authority, and don’t interfere.” ~Ronald Reagan  What are we doing? Looking for the best people we can find  we will have great candidates…  interviewing is a two way street… we will be interviewing candidates as much as they will be interviewing us

3 Overall Staff Expectations (cont’d)  Appropriate Behavior (verbal and non- verbal)  Professional demeanor at ALL times. NO alcohol consumption with candidates  Time commitment—keeping times open  Airport runs—attire/reimbursements  Interview candidates objectively and positively

4 Overall Staff Expectations (cont’d)  Respectful towards candidates, University, ORLNSP, Oxford  Interview questions—keep with the program!  Use “I” statements when describing your perceptions and experiences  Refer questions that require more in- depth responses to Debbie (for FYA candidates)  Please submit feedback in a timely manner

5 Activity Time  With your non-dominant hand write the sentence, “Interviewing is fun”  Now write the same sentence with your dominant hand  Who can guess the moral of the story???

6 FYA Interviews: General Information  One candidate per day, M-F Possibility of having two candidates  Interviews tentatively begin the week of February 13 and will continue until all positions are filled  Interested in doing Airport Runs? Sign up in 227 Warfield

7 FYA Interviews: Schedule Overview  Evening before*Dinner*  Prior to 8amContinential breakfast on their own  8:15-9:00am: Overview  9:00-9:50am: *General Interview*  10:00-10:50am:*Case Study*  11:00-11:30am:Student Affairs colleagues session  11:30-12:30: *Lunch at dining hall*  12:30-1:50pm: *Campus Tour*  1:50-2:00pm:BREAK  2:00-2:45pm: LLC/Central Staff session  2:45-3:30pm: Jerry Interview  3:30-4:00pm: Wrap-up *Indicates timeslots that ORLNSP Advisory Staff will be signing up for

8 ORLNSP Interviewing Requirements Staff doing only FYA Interviews**:  Full-time: 4 slots per week  Graduate Assistants: 3 slots per week  Cailin : 2 slots per week Staff doing both GA and FYA interviews:  Full-time: 3 slots per week  Graduate Assistants: 2 slot per week **The entire semester needs to be blocked off for all FYA interviews ~ 48 hour rule

9 FYA Interview Scheduling Details  Sign up for you slots on bulletin board in WAR227 by Monday January 16  Debbie Anderson is the Scheduling Coordinator for all interview days (M-F) Finding Interview Replacements  If you know ahead of time, contact Debbie and she will make sure you are not scheduled to interview that day.  Once you have been assigned to an interview, you are responsible for finding a replacement. Please contact Debbie with this information.

10 Miscellaneous Items Dates we will NOT hold FYA Interviews  2/20 (Pres. Day), 2/23-2/24 (CSP Days #1), 2/27 (Open House), 3/2-3/3 (CSP Days #2), 3/11-3/15 (NASPA), 3/13-3/19 (Spring Break), 3/18-3/21 (ACPA), 3/27 + 4/10 + 4/17 (Open Houses)  Signing up for Reference Checks will replace one interview slot. These checks will occur throughout the semester (4 spots available)  Those with less flexible schedules (URD/GAs) please sign up ASAP (sign-up sheets are now posted in 227 WAR)  Letter of intent for 2006-07 due to Debbie by January 20, 2006

11 CSP Interviews : General Information  Debbie has already contacted those involved via email  CSP GA interviews will take place Thursday/Friday February 23 & 24 and March 2 & 3  You will be assigned specific interview times approximately one week prior to the interview dates

12 CSP Interviews: Schedule Overview Day One: (2/23 & 3/2)  1:00-2:15pm: Welcome Lunch  2:30-3:15pm: Faculty or Assistantship Interview  3:30-4:15pm: “”  4:30-5:30pm: Class Session with Dr. Marcia Baxter Magolda  6:15-8:30pm: Dinner uptown w/CSP escorts  8:30-9:30pm: CSP Student Panel-Dodds  9:30-10:00pm:ORLNSP candidates (only) Hall/Suite Tour Dodds and Porter Hall
