A number of OLT Tx/Rx components map PON client signals onto separate wavelengths, which are multiplexed onto a shared, bidirectional fiber Two kinds of WDM PON Point to point WDM PON hybrid WDM PON : a wavelength (especially upstream) may be shared by two or more ONUs A wavelength control block (λ control) may be present to control the transmitted and received wavelengths and the respectively connected ONUs.

P2P WDM-PON will be used in little scenario. G.989 is started to be drafted in ITU The real application of NGPON2 will be after 2015 10GEPON and XGPON1 will be used as migration to the next generation PON, but they will last for long time.
