Quick Start Guide to Zscaler

Purpose Greater understanding of Zscaler including; How to backup and restore configurations. How to change rules to comply with your school’s acceptable use policy. Provide you with recommendations. DRAFT ONLY

What is Zscaler? Zscaler is a web-filtering service that will replace the current SINA (myinternet) web filtering. It will provide schools with the tools required to manage web access. DRAFT ONLY ‘Filtering Advice for Schools’

Usernames Usernames have to be in the format of a email address; e.g. jsmith@your_School_Domain_name The Active Directory needs to be compiled. DRAFT ONLY

3)Select “Edit” > “Create restore point” > Then name the restore point. Note: Choose something that is relevant that you will recognize at a future date. 4)> Select “Done” once complete How to backup your Zscaler portal configuration DRAFT ONLY

6) You should now be able to see the restore point you have just created along with any other restore points that may exist for your portal How to backup your Zscaler portal configuration DRAFT ONLY

1) Log into the Zscaler portal and navigate to the “Administration” > “Backup & Restore Policies” tab 2) Select “Edit” > then select the “Backup-Restore” icon on the backup point you wish to restore your configuration to How to restore your Zscaler portal configuration from a backup point DRAFT ONLY

3) You will receive the following warning message, select “ok” if you wish to proceed How to restore your Zscaler portal configuration from a backup point DRAFT ONLY

Pathways for this scenario are: URL Policy If the website does not belong to a Web 2.0 Control category then you would need to add a user defined category and then add the rule for the group. For these instructions go to the next slide Web 2.0 Control If the website belongs to a Web 2.0 Control category Webmail Instant Messaging Social Networks/Blogs Streaming Media/FileShare then you would place the rule within that category unless that website is not listed there when you go to do this. Implications for schools It is recommended that schools: Devise an implementation plan for the roll out with Zscaler Liaise with the school technician to ensure that the active directory records are accurate and up to date Review Cybersafety policies and procedures in light of this new web filtering service Have procedures in place for monitoring of the network DRAFT ONLY
