AIDS and its TCM Treatment

Knowledge of AIDS ●What’s AIDS? ●What’s HIV? ●How is HIV spread? ●Symptoms ●Treatment

What is AIDS? AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome ——

● The illness was first reported in the United States in 1981, which has since become a major worldwide epidemic. In China, it was discovered in 1985. ● AIDS is caused by HIV.

What is HIV? HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus ——

● HIV is a virus that weakens the body's immune defenses by destroying CD4 lymphocytes. ● By killing or damaging cells of the body's immune system, HIV progressively destroys the body's ability to fight infections and certain cancers. ● The term AIDS applies to the most advanced stages of HIV infection.

How is AIDS spread? There are several common ways that HIV can be passed from person to person, including:

● Having unprotected sex with someone who is infected ● Using needles that have been used by people who are infected ● Receiving infected blood products or transplanted organs ● Transmission from mother to child – An infected mother may pass the virus to her developing fetus during pregnancy, during birth, or through breastfeeding.

Symptoms In its early stages: ● fever 发热 ● nausea and vomiting 呕吐 ● diarrhea 痢疾,腹泻 ● fatigue 疲劳 ● swollen lymph nodes 淋巴结肿大 ● muscle aches 肌痛 ● headaches 头痛 ● joint pain 关节痛

Next , as CD4 cell levels drop below normal (normal is 800 -1,200): ● night sweats

Finally, as CD4 cell levels continue to drop, the patient develops AIDS ● CD4 count has decreased to 200 or below ● An opportunistic infection has developed ● A tumor has developed ● An AIDS-related brain illness has developed ● There is severe body wasting (HIV wasting syndrome)

Treatment highly active antiretroviral the rapy , HAART ——

● Doctors choose a combination of antiretroviral drugs to fight HIV infection. By using several different drugs simultaneously, the doctors hope to increase the effectiveness of AIDS treatment by attacking HIV at multiple points in its manufacturing cycle. Drug combinations also limit the risk that drug-resistant HIV will develop. The ultimate goal is to suppress HIV RNA to undetectable levels on follow-up blood tests.

Disadvantages ● Side effect ● The price is too high

Bacterin ● Bacterin hasn’t been discovered.

We should realize the illness correctly! One day, people can conquer the illness!

Thank you!
