Getting ready for school! BEFORE the First Day of School Talk to your child about school. Prepare your child by encouraging them. Label and name things they will encounter, like teacher, bus, working at tables with friends, and walking in the halls. ON the First Day of School: Kiss, hug, drop-off and leave. Though this may be hard for both you and your child initially, however, when you are gone, your child will focus more on their new friends and surroundings and warm up to the new environment. AFTER the First Day of School: Take time to talk and ask about school and be positive; give a treat or special snack, small toy, big hug or lots of kisses. Mention how proud you are of your child and how your child is learning and growing.
