Passive Learning Where the learner receives no feedback from the instructor (person or program) on his or her efforts.
2
Learners are actively engaged in the learning process. This can be achieved by reading, writing, and playing games that reinforce the learning. Active Learning Wii Fit Wii Sports
4
How Did This All Start? Kids love to play gaming systems.
5
Kids don’t always like to read.

Wii Gaming System + Reading = Motivation for Accelerated Reading for all grades!
7
How Does This Work? Student reads Accelerated Reader Books and take tests. For every certification that a student achieves, the student gets a ticket to play the wii for 10 minutes.
8
It does take effort on my part to make this successful. I feel that this is a worthwhile venture for the students. If this motivates them to read then, I am in!!! Specific time is set aside for the students to come play the Wii throughout the school day

Grants (local and other grants possibilities) http://www.edu-cyberpg.com/Technology/grant.html http://www.cpsb.org/Scripts/abshire/grants.asp - multiple funding possibilities http://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/os/technology/edgrants.html – U.S. Department of Education web page link to grants Most of the games, the Wii and remotes were paid out of personal expenses for Alamo. It was that important to me to keep the students involved in reading.
