EC Mandates M/453 ITS, M/441 Smart Metering, M/468 Electric Vehicle Charging, M/490 Smart Grids, … Electronic Working Tools –Established as a normal way of working on their own or in combination with physical meetings –Special Report 002 959 published including a roadmap and recommendations for the deployment and usage of electronic working tools in the ETSI standardization process –Continuous evaluation of different electronic working tools, e.g. benefit from using video

20 Halifax, 31 Oct – 3 Nov 2011 GSC16-PLEN-10 ICT Accessibility For All 20 Active Work Items in ETSI 5(7) 'DTR/M2M-00011' “Machine-to-Machine communications (M2M); Impact of Smart Grids on M2M platform” –Application of M2M architecture for the needs of Smart Grids: based on the high level framework developed by the ETSI Board (energy plane, control and connectivity plane, service plane), consider the applicability of the M2M platform to Smart Grids and derive a standard gap analysis: e.g. applicability of M2M APIs for Smart Grid applications, mechanisms to manage energy for end users, etc An annex will be developed to document the most relevant Smart Grid use cases. These will be used as a basis for –Deriving initial high level requirements –Developing recommendations for future work within ETSI TC M2M. –Highlighting dependencies and relationships with other work within ETSI TCs and other standards organizations including the ones covering the energy plane: NIST, CEN/Cenelec and IEC in particular. –Draft available –Source: M2M DTR/DECT-000267: “Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (DECT); DECT Ultra Low Energy (ULE) study” –technical study of an ultra low energy technology based on DECT for applications like home automation, smart metering, domestics, machine to machine –This will be a Technical Report –Source: DECT

21 Halifax, 31 Oct – 3 Nov 2011 GSC16-PLEN-10 ICT Accessibility For All 21 Active Work Items in ETSI 6(7) DTS/PLT-00026: “Powerline Telecommunications (PLT); Home Automation in the 2-4 MHz band” –Define a specification for wide band low rate Command & Control PLT for in home networks. Low rate means lower than 100 kb/s at the application layer. This specification addresses applications like in-home energy efficiency and saving, load control in-home applications. The specification covers PHY and MAC layers. This TS will include coexistence and/or interoperability mechanisms, using bridges or not, with non low rate wide band PLT. –This will be a Technical Specification –Source: PLT DTR/TISPAN-05028-NGN-R3: “Telecommunications and Internet converged Services and Protocols for Advanced Networking (TISPAN); Feasibility Study for using NGN to allow monitoring of power levels and control of power modes of devices in the Customer Premises Networks, Power monitoring and control in CPN“ –This will be a Special Report –Proposed work on the different methods of energy control and energy management, i.e., on protocols that control and/or monitor the Energy Efficiency / power modes of devices in the Customer Premises Network. This includes discussion of white-goods, as well as STB, CNG, IPTV, media-storage devices, WLAN Access Points, etc. It is expected that the protocols will allow remote access by users and/or the NGN service provider. Existing work from other fora will be considered, e.g. from HGI, ETSI EE, ETSI ATTM, and from EC Code of Conduct, etc. –Source: TISPAN WG5

22 Halifax, 31 Oct – 3 Nov 2011 GSC16-PLEN-10 ICT Accessibility For All 22 Active Work Items in ETSI 7(7) ETSI DES/ERM-TG28-0425 ”Electromagnetic compatibility and Radio spectrum Matters (ERM); Short Range Devices (SRD); Radio equipment to be used in parts of the frequency range 870-876 MHz and 915-921 MHz, with Transmitter Duty Cycle (TDC) restriction and power levels up to 25 mW; Technical characteristics and test methods” –This new standard applies to mass market SRD applications, such as energy and water metering, alarm, automotive domains etc, and using duty cycle restrictions only, in parts of the frequency range 870-876 MHz and 915-921 MHz. –The spectrum environment is likely to demand specific technical requirements such as: specific duty cycle specifications, specific receiver selectivity and blocking capabilities. –It may also include further requirements on media access control to facilitate SRD co-existence within certain frequency bands. The work is based on the assumption that the results of the spectrum engineering studies will have a positive outcome for the European industry (parallel standardization activity to SRDoc TR 102 649-2. –References: TR 102 649-2, TR 103 055 and TR 102 886 –This is an ETSI Standard –Source: ERM TG28 and TG34
