Used initially in America to test army recruits Binet-Simon Test calculated a child’s mental age and compared it to his or her chronological age Mental Age: The average age normal, average individuals achieve a certain score Chronological Age: The number of years a person has lived 1908: The French government commissioned Alfred Binet with developing a method of identifying intellectually deficient children for their placement in special education programs. It was called the Binet-Simon Scale. 1916: Stanford psychologist Lewis Terman released the "Stanford Revision of the Binet-Simon Scale", the "Stanford-Binet", for short.
