All pupils take the same questionnaire based on their life experience to date and their strengths and difficulties as they see them. A score is obtained (Maximum 40) Test is given at induction-no preconceptions, clean slate approach. Scores are analysed and graded. Profile created based on attainments, developmental history and ACE

Mitigating factors identified. Linking lower than expected achievement in the present to life experiences in the past. Acknowledgement to pupil-using the evidence base to explain their learning barriers. Celebratory achievement ‘against the odds’. Resilience and coping strategies. Justification for methodology: adapted curriculum, outside agency involvement etc

ACE scores reducing-methods are effective. Academic achievement increasing. Social and emotional intelligence improved. Skills for self reliance Enhanced resilience We cannot change the adversity but we can change the reaction to it and the impact it has.
