3. Introduction Ancient Egypt was one of the greatest ancient societies of all time. So if you have 0.1 idea of what I’m talking about (which I doubt you don’t) then picture a city like a frying pan with the sun beating on it, a city which relies on water from the Nile that enriches the soil making it good for farming. If you have this in your brain, then bingo, you have Ancient Egypt. Okay so by now you’re probably wondering when I’m gonna talk about the great pyramid. Well, that starts in 3…2…1… NOW! The Great Pyramid is one of the most important legacies of Ancient Egypt because of its origin, contribution, and its impact on today. Okay first off: Origin.

4. Origin Alright, The Great Pyramid’s origin includes many ideas, construction, and again, why it even exists. Okay, so there was this guy who was pharaoh during the fourth dynasty named Khufu (sounds like sushi. Gross). And as you know, Ancient Egypt believed in afterlife, so as pharaoh, Khufu wanted his afterlife to be BIG, so they decided to build The Great Pyramid for Khufu to rest in when he passed away. To gather all this stone material, they hired (actually more like FORCED them to work in a roasting quarry) their slave people to gather the materials to build this. With this stuff planned, they began construction in 2550 B.C. Now back to the quarry, do you ever drive by a construction site and see sweaty construction dudes and think “man, they have it tough”. Well, TRUE, but compared to what slaves had to go through, construction dudes are living in luxury. Slaves had to chip away bricks with a hammer and a giant nail- looking thing. They had to pull or push heavy bricks that weigh between 400 and 500 pounds. Sounds rough, huh?

5. Contribution The Great Pyramid is one of the most iconic things in Egypt. It’s contributed tourists, fame, and gives Egypt a little (well BIG) something to brag about. Without the great pyramid, we may not know how Egypt mummified people, what their ways of life was, what hieroglyphics were and what they were used for, yadda yadda yadda. Egypt used hieroglyphics in their tombs, and in the great pyramid, there were plenty to go around. The great pyramid told us a lot about their language using hieroglyphics and other drawing symbols. Today, historians still refer to the great pyramid as a source to uncover all of ancient Egypt’s deepest secrets that the world today may never know… (Cliffhanger :D)

6. Impact The Great Pyramid is one of the greatest structures from the ancient world. Heck, it’s even one of the great wonders of the ancient world! The impact on the world today is fairly large. It appears in the beginning of that Despicable Me movie. I’m pretty sure it’s on the dollar bill, but I could be wrong. Whenever you think of a pyramid you (might) think of the great pyramid. So yeah, just because a structure was all popular back when, doesn’t mean there’s no room for some old school!

7. Conclusion As you can see from this document, the great pyramid is an important legacy from Ancient Egypt because of its purpose, contributions, and significance. I bet a big part of Egypt’s fame comes from the great pyramid. But what is it now? Well, it’s important, and still holds Khufu’s dead body (I think), but it doesn’t look all that great. Here, imagine a used Nintendo 64 at a run-down pawn shop. Yeah, that’s sort’ve like what the great pyramid looks like (well it doesn’t look EXACTLY like it). But anyways, The legacy lives on…It always will…
