2. Name of Museum Curator Information Sea Oriya Gira, the founder of this museum, was born in St. Louis, MO. She had a mom and dad named Panjama and Ott Gira, and a younger sister named Earth. She attended Ladue Early hood Child Center at age 2, Conway Elementary at age 5, and MICDS (Mary Institute Country Day School) at age 10. She enjoys athletics, mainly soccer, making art, and spending time with her family. Her favorite history topic is Stonehenge. She highly recommends learning from Mr. Michael Fitzgerald. 7. Name of Museum The Great Pyramid at Giza was originally 481 feet tall and is now 450 feet tall! The Great Pyramid at Giza is an architectural structure called a pyramid and is in Giza, Ancient Egypt. It took 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing 2.5 to fifteen tons each, for the pyramid to be complete. It is 450 feet tall and its base covers thirteen acres. It was built sometime between 2600 to 2500 B.C.E. No one knows exactly how long the Great Pyramid took to be completed. The pyramid was built and is still standing in Giza, Egypt on the west bank of the Nile River, almost twenty years. It was built by highly skilled artisans and was built for the Pharaoh Khufu. Building the Great Pyramid took a lot of technology and time. Since the Ancient Egyptians did not have modern day technologies, they had to create their own technologies. 8. Name of Museum Three examples of technology in the Great Pyramids shows that Ancient Egypt was an important civilization. First, planning and preparation for the Great Pyramid at Giza is an example of Ancient Egyptian technology. The Ancient Egyptians used technology to level out the pyramid site by flooding earth banks, and used measuring cords, technology, to align the pyramid’s corners to north/south and east/west. Second, the tools used for the Great Pyramid at Giza is an example of Ancient Egyptian technology. Measuring cords made out of flax fibers were used during preparation, copper drills and saws are two of the many tools used for cutting limestone, and dolerite was used for shaping the limestone. Third, transportation, which was used for completion of the Great Pyramids at Giza, is an example of Ancient Egyptian technology. Traveling on the Nile River is very useful, so boats were used, sleds were used on land and moving stones up ramps, and ramps the were built circling around the pyramid were used as well.
