4. 15 What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Absolutely not! 16 Do you not know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey— Romans 6:15-16a

7. What is substance abuse? addiction, bondage. it’s mainly associated with drugs or alcohol. The biblical word for this type of addiction is called “lust.”

8. Where does it come from? The short answer is it’s root is sin. it is the result of influences from the world, the flesh and the devil. it can come from a gradual surrender to temptation.

9. What is the cure? only jesus can supply a person with the correct weapons. Your belief in God’s provision is the key to beginning the process of breaking free of substance abuse and addiction. The cure is to put off the flesh.

10. the bible does not say, “thou shalt not drink.” Churches differ widely on alcohol consumption. Yes, wine consumption was a part of the normal life of people of the Bible. Wine of the Bible was diluted.

11. the bible says you shouldn’t get drunk. isaiah 5:11-12 isaiah 56:9-12 Proverbs 23:20-21 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 1 Corinthians 5:11

12. the bible speaks against strong drink. Proverbs 20:1 Proverbs 31:4 Proverbs 31:6

13. why i abstain from alcohol: How drinking will affect me. How drinking will affect others. Does drinking bring glory to God?
