3. W HEN DO YOU USE THIS STRATEGY ? DEJ’s are used during note taking. If used for essays – this takes place before writing the outline or rough draft. This is a form of a graphic organizer.

5. A PPLIED IN THE C LASSROOM Ex: English Classroom Print out DEJ’s for each student Have students analyze a specific text Left side – quote text that supports the theme of the piece Right side – write HOW the quote is significant to the theme
