3 Are we distracted from the one thing that matters? “Martha was pre-occupied with getting everything ready for the meal.” (Common English Bible) “Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen.” (The Message)

4 Are we distracted from the one thing that matters? We are distracted when our attention is taken away from where it should be and placed on something else. We are distracted when we are so occupied with something that we cannot see something else- in this case, something far more important.

5 Are we distracted from the one thing that matters? Only One Thing is Necessary The Word of the Lord to Learn it, to Do it, to Teach it the good part which shall not be taken away compare 1 Tim 4:16

6 Are we distracted from the one thing that matters? We can be so occupied even in a good thing that we are distracted from The Word of the Lord Something better! Something eternal!

7 Are we distracted from the one thing that matters? Martha was worried and bothered about many things- all of which were of lesser importance than The Word of the Lord So many things call for our attention- some avoidable and some unavoidable that can pull us away from the Word
