Mass 1 kg = ____ g 1g = ____ mg Which is larger? a.1 kg or 1500 g b.1200 mg or 1 g c.12 mg or 12kg d.4 kg or 4500 g 1000
9
Instrument to Measure Mass You will use the _____ ____ ______ to find the mass of objects. Triple beam balance
10
How to use a Triple Beam Balance 1 st – Place the film canister on the pan. 2 nd – Slide the large slider to the right until the arm drops below the line and then move it back one notch. 3 rd – Repeat the process with the 10 gram weight. When the arm moves below the line, back it up one groove. 4 th – Slide the one gram weight on the front beam until the lines match up. 5 th – Add the amounts on each beam to find the total mass to the nearest tenth of a gram.
