2 Types of Letters Personal—Business Letter  A personal-business letter is a letter that is sent from an individual to a person or business/organization. Business Letter  A business letter is sent from a business or organization to another or to an individual.

7 7 What’s in The Heading (your information)  Single Spaced – followed by four lines  Always includes the date As the last entry  Business Letter (no letterhead) Your return address  Only abbreviation is Postal Code - NJ May include Phone#, Fax#, Email@ Date  Formal Business Letter (on letterhead) Date only

8 8 What is the Inside Address (addressee’s information)  Person’s Name, Title  Company Name/Department  Company Address  Single Spaced Followed by one blank lines (Enter Key twice)

10 10 What is the Body? (The actual letter)  Brief and to the point! Strictly Business  Guideline – 3 paragraphs (at least) Brief Introduction Contents - What I want Conclusion and Thank you  Each paragraph: Single Spaced Followed by one blank lines (Enter Key twice)

11 11 Complimentary Close  Sincerely,  Yours truly,  Respectfully yours,  Followed by three lines (Enter Key 4 times) After printing you will sign the letter here

35 Notes to Remember! 1. The top margin is 2”, side and bottom margins are 1". 2. Typist initials are the initials of the typist and are used when someone other than the writer prepares the letter. Lowercase letters are used, with no space, and with no punctuation, appearing a double space below the signature. 3. Get spacing correct (QS & DS)
