Aims of our e-Learning hub session today: To consider the benefits of ‘flipped learning’ in enhancing a ‘growth mindset’ culture. To consider the best way of engaging parents and carers in e-Learning. To plan for the implementation and evaluation of an e-Learning action research project.

Flipped learning Flipped learning Flipped learning literally does what it says on the tin: it flips learning on its head. Responsibility for acquiring new knowledge is placed with the student. Lesson time is then freed up for application and manipulation of knowledge.

Parental engagement Why? Supporting parents in helping their children achieve. Knowing what the kids are doing engagement with child’s learning. Easy, swift communication with parents can promote discussion. What? Upload instructional and revision videos for parents/carers (‘How can you help?’) Introductory surgery for parents/carers on e-Learning. Incentive for parents to engage? Quick Guides on e-Learning. When? Incorporate into open evening for incoming students. Have it all up and running and make sure teachers are confident with e- Learning before inviting parents in. Section of options evening dedicated to e-Learning. Who?

e-Learning Action Research Putting into practice the work of the e- Learning hub. ‘Controlled’ research with one e- Learning group and the other ‘traditional’. Identify desired outcomes. Have a concise plan for measuring impact.
