What exactly does this nifty device do? This is designed to make cereal through the use of a small ball, a paper towel roll serving as a small pipe, cups, and a pulley system that would pour milk into your favorite cereal (I tried to use Lucky Charms but Jaime wouldn’t let me). Some of the issues that we had while constructing this device were the balance of the weight of some parts of the machine. and the structure of the string in the pulley system.

The Energy Conversions that Jaime was able to discover while loud music blared in Collins’s room Step 1: Potential Energy to Kinetic Energy (mgh o =1/2mv 2 ) Step 2: Pulley System (Free-Body Diagram=Kinetic Diagram of cup and toilet paper roll; kinematics, v=(s 2 -s 1) /t) Elastic Collision between toilet paper roll and cardboard (m 1 v 1 +m 2 v 2 =m 1 v 1 ’+m 2 v 2 ’) Coefficient of Restitution between toilet paper roll and cardboard (e=-(v 1 ’- v 2 ’)/v 1 -v 2 )

Interesting Conclusions that we thought you should know: We thought that the device worked rather well, even though it took us forever to perfect the process. It took us a long time to devise a way to make the pulley system; we had initially misjudged the length of the strings, and we had a hard time making the cup go down consistently. Basically, weight was the most important factor in the effectiveness of our device.
