Welcome to the Cardiovascular SIG of Internet 2 Unlike most other forms of imaging, imaging of the heart is performed with an understanding of the heart Tools for anatomy, physiology, perfusion by MRI and by ultrasound require special expertise
4
Best Results Combination of physics, imaging expertise, cardiac physiology, and cardiology Not present in most Radiology departments More cardiac enabled systems in large metro areas than people who know how to use them Example (State of Oregon) - 13 enabled systems, 1 group who knows how to use for Cardiac MRI
5
Cardiovascular SIG Partners: with Companies and Organizations. GE, Siemens, Philips, Guidant, Medtronics AHA, ACC, ASE, SCMR, AMA NASCI, ASNC, ACR, RSNA RSNA
6
Opportunities Remote supervision and interpretation/ consultation Information overlay Physiology, electrical conduction, function, perfusion Clinical Research Centers Clinical trials Educational development Health promotion, Informatics-virtual medical record Risk prevention
7
Areas of Endeavor Distance (robotic) supervision of: Procedures Imaging Intervention Surgery Modeling Interventions Heart structure Heart function
8
Areas of Endeavor Training/Education Risk screening Coronary heart disease Athletes Virtual medical record Fusion imaging of Clinical data from multiple modalities Overlay function and anatomy Aid navigation
