3 Qualitative Observations Quality or characteristic of something.  colors, shapes, textures, smells, patterns, etc.  do NOT include any numbers or measurements. Examples  The stapler is red.  The shirt is striped.  The teddy bear is soft.

4 Quantitative Observations Quantity or amount of something. Include numbers and measurements. Examples  A spider has 8 legs.  The desk is 60 cm tall.  The car rolled 122 cm down the ramp.
