Analysing Previous Exam Papers Aim To be aware of the most common topics which occur on examination papers and to identify 4 topics to prioritise for revision.

Analysing Previous Exam Papers Task 1 Each pair will be given an exam paper. Cut out the key part of each question [It need not be the whole question] and put the questions into 5 piles: Pile 1: Number Questions Pile 2: Algebra Questions Pile 3: Shape and Measures Questions Pile 4: Handling Data Pile 5: Probability

Analysing Previous Exam Papers Task 2 The questions will be placed in one of the four boxes which are located as follows Number Topics Algebra Topics Shape Topics Handling Data & Probability

Analysing Previous Exam Papers Task 3 The class will now work in 4 groups depending upon where you sit: Number Topics Algebra Topics Shape Topics Handling Data & Probability

Analysing Previous Exam Papers Task 4 Working in your group – divide the questions up into different topics such as Solving Equations, Pythagoras, Transformations … (The grouping of the questions is up to the group to decide) Task 5 Finally stick all the questions about a particular topic onto a piece of coloured card – which you will find in the box and write the topic on the back of the card. (Topics which are not very common should not be included)

Analysing Previous Exam Papers Task 6 Write a list in your books of the most common topics you have come across and these will be shared with the class. Identify 4 key topics to revise. The coloured cards will be put up for display
