Hall A DVCS calorimeter Operation Safety procedure September 18 th 2014 Alexandre Camsonne DVCS Readiness Review
2
Hall A DVCS calorimeter 208 Lead Fluoride blocs 13x16 matrix Readout with PMT Hamamatsu R7700 ( similar to R5900 with single anode and 8 stages, HV max 900 V typical 600 V )
3
Non standard equipment Calorimeter Stand ( horizontal and rotation ) Signal cables RG213 HV cables RG59 Signal cables RG58 HV crate EPICS anode current DVCS trigger DVCS sampling electronics
4
Hall A installation / test Covered by HALIST 443 http://devweb.acc.jlab.org/CSUEApps/halist/t ask/443 http://devweb.acc.jlab.org/CSUEApps/halist/t ask/443 Additions for running experiment – Stand – Cables – Motion of calorimeter
5
Hall A setup Stand Calorimeter
6
Hall A setup Located between beamline and Right HRS Can move back and forth for calibration Rotation around axis for different kinematical detector angle
7
Hall A setup Target chamber Detector setup
8
Hall A setup
9
Task hazard analysis HV Electrical Hazard – Less than 1 kV ( hardware limited ) and less 5 mA class 1 Work in elevation Fire hazard cable Equipment damage hazard during motion
10
Work in elevation Above 5 feet Railings around detector, railing out when close to beamline Adding access ladder for easier access
11
RG213 RG213 going from patch at detector to HRS
12
Cabling / Fire hazard RG213 tested VW1 ( used 2005 and 2010 ) HV RG59( used 2005 and 2010 ) Same hazard level as other non standard experiment Suggestions from Dave Kausch – Move low voltage power supply farther from cable – Look into possibility of adding sprinkler – Check sample HV cable
13
Detector motion procedure task list Only expert allowed to move detector One spotter with expert to check while motion Short checklist – Check for interference stand with HRS – Check any items that could be tied to chamber and stand
14
DVCS electronics installation Reuse FPP racks
15
3 VME64X crate for sampling readout DVCS calorimeter trigger DVCS electronics installation
16
Remaining tasks list DVCS Calorimeter 11 block repair /tests ( ODU end of this week ) Calorimeter stacking / cabling ( ODU, IPN : 3 days ) DVCS HRS trigger setup and timing ( Paul, Alex 1 week ) DVCS calorimeter cabling to electronics ( Paul, Camille, Mongi, Norman 3 days ) Calorimeter readout ( Paul Norman Alex 3 days ) Deadtime / high rate tests ( Paul Norman Alex 1 day ) Display/decode DVCS detector ( Carlos 1 day ) EPICS / HV check ( Kijun 1 day) Add ladder access Look into possibility of additional sprinkler Relocate / protect low voltage power supply Most work in parallel : plan to be done by end of the month 16
17
Conclusion Procedure for experiment – Update access detector – Cabling fire hazard Main Hazard Detector motion – Only expert with one spotter and check list Finalizing OSP with safety People working on experiment will read and sign OSP no major issues expected
