2 What are Hurricanes? A hurricane is: a severe tropical cyclone usually with heavy rains and winds moving a 73-136 knots

3 Hurricane Katrina Hurricane Katrina happened in 2005. They say it was the worst hurricane in History. It caused more damage than any other hurricane ever reported. It became a category five with winds its highest winds at 175mph. This hurricane kept up for 7 days causing more and more damage as it went along.There were 1836 deaths and 705 people missing from this storm.

4 Hurricane Ivan Hurricane Ivan happened in 2004, a lot of hurricanes happened that year but this one was the strongest in the 2004 hurricane season! It highest wind was 165 mph. It did eventually become a category 5. This hurricane caused us in the United States to get a lot of rain and cause a lot of dangerous flooding. This hurricane lasted for twenty- three days.

5 Hurricane Charley Hurricane Charley happened in 2004. Its highest wind was 150 mph. It became a category 4 but is was a very strong category 4 hurricane. Charley lasted for six days and hit Florida as its fist landfall. All the areas it effected were Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Florida, South Carolina & North Carolina.

6 Hurricane Gustav Hurricane Gustav happened in 2008 & lasted for 10 days. Its highest winds were 150 mph. This hurricane caused 10 areas to be effected. There $6.61 billion in damage from the single hurricane! This hurricane eventually became a category 5 and it was very powerful. The eye of the storm was almost right over the edge of Florida.

7 Hurricane Ike The hurricane happened in 2008 and it lasted for 14 days! Its highest winds were 145 mph. $32 billion was how much damage it caused. !3 areas were effected by this storm. The highest category this storm was in was a category 4 hurricane. This was the third most destructive hurricane to ever make landfall in the United States.
