What Happens During Hurricanes? Hurricanes can produce very powerful wind and extremely heavy rain. They form over a large body of water. As they move inland it gets less strong but can still devastate any inland place not ready for one.

What causes Hurricanes? Hurricanes are strong low pressure areas that are formed in summer or the early part of fall. They are formed over large, warm bodies of water. The fuel for hurricanes is water vapor. When Water vapor condenses, it creates clouds and rain resulting in a hurricane.
