Adding Integers A positive number plus a positive number equals a positive answer (+21) + (+15) = (+36) 12 + 15 = 27

A negative number plus a negative number is a negative answer. ( - 5) + ( -8) = A (-13) = A

If the signs are different you subtract and use the sign of the number with the largest absolute value. 12 + - 4 = 8 -15 + 11 = - 4
