4. Brackets Whatever is on the outside of the bracket affects each term within the bracket. We will add and subtract polynomials in brackets like these. Polynomials have two important properties. They have a non-infinite number of termsThey have a non-infinite number of terms They have non-negative integer powersThey have non-negative integer powers

5. Polynomials Are these polynomials? Yes! Yes! Even monomials with one term are polynomials. No… Negative powers are not allowed. No… You can’t have an infinite number of terms. Polynomials are usually simpler things like the first two examples.

6. Addition and Subtraction Let’s try adding some polynomials. When we add polynomials, the brackets make no difference to the calculation. The second bracket had a minus symbol in front of it so the symbols swapped.
