2 © 2011-2012 Reed Treasury The Families Agenda Prime Minister’s commitment to try to turn around the most troubled families in the country by 2015 Across Government, measures are being introduced to support these families which include: Community Budgets the New Troubled Families Team; and ESF Support for Families with Multiple Problems

3 © 2011-2012 Reed Treasury DWP Aims for The Families Programme Support many of the 120,000 workless families in England to move closer to the labour market Break the welfare dependency cycle Reduce intergenerational worklessness by overcoming fear of employment Build on the success of Family Intervention Projects (FIPs) Supporting families to access local services

4 © 2011-2012 Reed Treasury DWP Programme Information Provision is voluntary and will last for 12 months Local Authorities (LA’s) identify and refer families Aim to tackle entrenched worklessness Support will be available to individual family members 2 Contract Package Areas (CPAs) across London (East & West) – Reed in Partnership are Prime Provider in each CPA Contracts are for three years DWP & ESF funded
