2 Interstate Relations Article IV requires states to do the following:
Give “Full faith and credit to another state Give another state’s citizens “privileges and immunities” Extradite, return a fugitive to the state they escaped from

3 Full Faith and Credit Given to each state to the public acts, records, and judicial proceedings Each state must recognize the laws and legal proceedings of every other state Only applies to civil laws- laws relating to disputes between individuals, groups, or with the state

One state may not discriminate against a citizen of another state States can make laws regarding voting, holding a public office, residency before establishing a professional business Also, may have to pay for fishing or hunting, and out-of-state tuition

7 Extradition Returning a criminal back to the state of the crime
The governor of the state is responsible for returning the criminal

9 Interstate Compacts A written agreement between two or more states
States must resolve their differences in a nonviolent way Congress must approve of the compact, and once it is signed, it is enforceable by the Supreme Court

11 Lawsuits between States
Suits among two or more states are heard in the US Supreme Court, the only court in which one state may sue another They can be over many issues, such as water, sewage polluting water in another state, or boundary lines.
