Multitext/Multigenre Project
2
Description of project- The Multitext/Multigenre Project is a way for you to explore different types of sources to create a type of research paper except with a creative format. Through this project, you will develop an understanding of a particular occupation/career and write about it in multiple genres.

Grading and Due Dates
4
Where to begin?
5
1. Select an occupation/career that you feel you may be interested in. This may be a job that your parents do and you’d just like to more about it, or it could be something that you’d like to do in the future, or it may just be a career that you know nothing about and would like to find out more about that topic. Must turn in topic to teacher quickly or you may not get your career choice, each student in the class must have different career choices!!!
6
2.Begin to research your topic using the websites I give you while you complete the research worksheet entitled “Finding Your Future.” We’ll do most of this in class time; however, ***there may be some outside work required. Also, be sure to keep track of sources used on attached “Sources” sheet.
7
3. You will now choose 3 genres(or ways) that you like to present your findings. First, you will not be doing a research paper, so you must become creative in order to do well on this project. You want to give all the information of a traditional research paper, but in a more interesting and inviting way. For example, if you choose the profession of “teaching,” you may want one genre to be in the form of a poem, possibly describing one of your favorite teachers, or just telling about what a teacher does, or what kind of teacher you’d like to be. Or you make a list of all the duties of a teacher. Or you could interview a teacher, and one of your genres may be his or her answer to questions you ask.
8
****The point to this project is that you develop a full understanding of the profession-see me for any needed assistance or further understanding.****
9
The following is a list of many different/possible genres you may use- I will show you many of these in class (YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE UP YOUR OWN):

14
5. Complete the essay and bibliography by due date.

6.Prepare to present your findings to the class. (See Oral Presentation Rubric)
