There are a few ancient ruins in Madrid. The most important ones are the ruins of the Roman city Complum in Alcalá de Henares (first century A.D. It was a residential urban area. The public buildings haven´t been found but they have discovered some private houses with beautiful mosaics. The best ones were found in the house of Bacchus and the house of Hippolytus.

Which building is the main symbol of your city? The Puerta del Sol (Spanish for "Gate of the Sun") is one of the best known in Madrid. The square also contains the famous clock whose bells mark the traditional eating of the Twelve Grapes and the beginning of a New Year.

A family in Madrid usually have three or four members, father, mother and one or two children. We usually live in flats. Only people living in the outskirts of our city live in houses. On Sunday Christians go to church to celebrate the Eucharist. Sometimes on Saturday morning we go shopping to buy food. We usually wake up at 8.00a.m. and we start school at 9.00a.m. Often we watch TV and at night all the family have dinner together.

Royal Theatre of Madrid In Madrid there are a lot of bridges over the Manzanares River along the M-30 motorway. The longest one is modern. It is 44 m long. There are more than 100 theatres. There are about 50 concert halls.

It doesn’t have any towers. It has columns. Our House of Parliament was built in 1843. It has a neoclassical style portal.
