1 Types of User Interface
Natural Language Interface Question and Answer Interface Form fill Interface Command Language Interface Graphical user Interface Menu Interface

2 Natural Language Interface
NLI – The interaction of users with computer in their daily or natural language, where not much skills are needed is called NLI It is the simplest language interface where maximum users prefer.

3 Question and Answer Interface
The computer display the question to the user on the display screen. The user has to interact by answering the question after which the computer moves to nest step Eg: While installing an application computer may ask the following questions Do you wish to install the application? Do you accept the terms and conditions? In which directory do you want to install the application, etc

4 Menu Interface Menu interface provides the user with an onscreen list of available selections. In responding to the menu, a user is limited to the options displayed Menu are not hardware dependent Eg: Word processing menu.

5 Form-Fill Interface Form-fill interfaces consist of onscreen forms or web-based forms displaying fields containing data items or parameters that needed to be communicated to the users. Forms for display screen are set up to show what information to be input and where to input.

6 Command Line Interface
The command line interface allows the user to control the applications with a series of key strokes, commands, phrases or some sequence of these three methods. The command language has no inbuilt meaning for the users. Command language needs memorization of syntax. New users find this interface difficult and full with obstacles but the experience users prefer this language because of their faster completion time.

7 Graphical user Interfaces
They provide constant feedbacks to the users

8 Data Capture Data capture is the process of collecting data and input it in the computer for processing after which the computer displays the desired results. Effective and Efficient Data Capturing is must so as to produce accurate results. Now a days more attention is focused on data capturing, so as to make available accurate database, speed up the process. Now a days more effective and efficient means like bar codes, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) etc. are in use.

9 Deciding what to capture
What data is to be captured for the system input is decided by the system analyst and the users. The collected data should not be ‘garbage in and garbage out’ Capturing data, inputting them, processing them, storing them and retrieving them from the system are all costly affairs, so data capturing must be efficient and effective.

10 Types of data There are two types of data Varying or changing data
This data changes from transaction to transaction Eg: ABC company places an order of 10 items to XYZ firm, in the next month it places an order of 20 items, in the third month it places an order of 30 items Here the data input like quantity, amount, discounts, VAT amount, total amount and so on are different and varying in all the three transaction.

11 Types of data Differentiating Data
There are some data which are of differentiating type or we can say unique or distinct data. Eg: Enrollment numbers allotted to students are unique and differentiating as the same numbers are not allotted to other students and the details can be accessed by just using a single number.

12 Letting the computer do the rest
There are certain datas where the computer does the input itself Eg: A company producing various products, if all the product names are stored in the data base, the operator can retrive the stored information by just selecting the data i.e. the computer has done the remaining work.

13 Avoiding bottle necks and extra steps
Eg:-in online realtime system that captures customer without necessitating the completion of the form . Starting with a good form Choosing a data entry method (Keyboard, OCR, Scanner, MICR, Bar codes etc
