4  Bacteria is a threat, bacteria lives on sugar in food  Plaque – sticky, colorless film that acts on sugar to form acids that destroy tooth enamel and irritate gums  Plaque builds  Bacteria thrive  Acid forms  Enamel breaks down  Cavities/holes form
