Discussion board and platform for collaboration. Free (if educational) and easy to set up and maintain. Create as many wikis as you desire. Teacher creates a wiki for the students in the classroom. Teacher creates a wiki for all parents to inform them. Teacher creates a wiki with each parent individually (private). Teacher creates a wiki for collaboration with other teachers.

Students can edit the wiki and learn from one another. To align with Common Core expectations, the teacher can pose a problem and students can post how they will approach the problem. Students exposed to a variety of approaches. Parents are informed of content, assignments, & expectations. Parents have a platform to ask questions for clarification. Teachers have access to resources they may miss without a wiki. Teachers develop partnerships with children, families and professionals.
