How Large and Who Should Be On it? Small Enough to Manage, Large Enough to be Representative – President’s Office – VPAA Office – Key Operations Directors – Academic Departments and Offices – Student Champions

Select and Report At Least 2 Within Two Months – Identify Those You Already Do (i.e. LEED Silver) – Selections Must Be In-place within 2 years except 15% Renewable Energy Option (1 Year) – May Add Selections Following Initial Report UM Selected LEED Silver, Public Transportation and Recyclemania

Conduct of GHG – Internal vs. External Must Be Repeated Every Two Years Complexity May Vary by Institution Boundary and Availability of Data Is Key Collection and Report - Labor Intensive Report Will be Publically Available

Identify Key Holders of Data -Form a Small Task Group To Assist Inventory Team Initial Meeting – Educate Team About ACUPCC, Set Timelines Include Task Group Members in Steering Workgroup

Campus Needs to be Aware of Commitment Becoming Carbon Neutral Will Require a Change In the Way We Do Business Brochures, Student, Faculty/Staff Articles, Campus Presentations, Campus-Wide Memos, etc. Work With Marketing/Communications

Hire a Sustainability Coordinator or Appoint a Project Manager Ensure They Have Time, Resources and High Level Support– This Will Be Time Consuming Development of the Climate Plan Is Not the End – Implementation, Tracking, Reporting, Modification and GHG Inventories Will Continue

Individuals Have Willingly Volunteered Units Not Previously Involved In Environment/Sustainability Are Engaged New Collaborations – Good Energy Highest Level of Involvement Is Critical Steering Workgroup Group Must Focus on Long-term Strategies…Not Just Low Hanging Fruit
