1 COMPUTER LAB Orientation and Ethics Competency 1

2 It is your responsibility to follow directions and take responsibility for your own achievement in this class. Computer Lab Rules

3 When the tardy bells rings, the door will shut and you will be required to go to the office for a pass to enter the class. Do not knock on the door unless you have a pass from the office. I will shut the door as the bell is ringing, which means you must be in the door SEATED before it starts ringing. Computer Lab Rules

4 All students are responsible for reading the dry erase board or Promethean board upon entering class to obtain beginning of class directions and get to work. Computer Lab Rules

5 No food, drink or gum in this classroom. Keep the room clean and tidy. Do not write on the desks. Do not leave trash on or under the tables. Put things back when you are finished with them. Place chairs under desks before leaving. Computer Lab Rules

6 No horseplay, no shoving, pushing, or other actions that might cause damage to the equipment Computer Lab Rules

7 Write your user name and password in a safe place. Do not tell other students your password. Computer Lab Rules

8 Once a computer is turned on, leave it on. It will be reset at the end of the day. Do not move the computer monitors on the desks. Do not load any programs on the computers unless specifically authorized to do so. Computer Lab Rules

9 Do not leave important data files on the hard drives (C Drive) of the computers. All data that are not part of the standard image are deleted at the end of the day when the computers are shut down. Do not download software from the Internet onto the computers unless authorized to do so. No personal CD’s can be placed into the CD-ROM drive without permission.

10 Computer Lab Rules No personal Jump Drives may be placed into the computer without my permission. No Internet use without approval from the instructor. No printing of documents for other classes.

11 Computer Lab Rules Pay ATTENTION to where you save your work. Save ONLY on your H drive or (when set up) your folder in the STUDENT FOLDER OF THE Y DRIVE. The instructor has monitoring software and can view all computer monitors at any given time. If any student is using the computer inappropriately the student will be sent to the office with a referral.

12 Computer Lab Rules Any inappropriate comments posted to message boards will result in office referral. Students may go to websites only if they pertain to the current unit of study

13 Computer Lab Rules You must log off of your personal account before you leave. Failure to do this will allow other students to access your work and do bad things to it.
