9 Goal Differentiate my Writing Instruction and Assessment Read the Book Differentiation- Wormeli Plan writing – Use strategies to differentiate, i.e., Topics, deadlines, assessment Teach a lessons for a descriptive essay and differentiate for my the sections of my 7 th grade L.A. Sections Evaluate the lessons and student responses to determine next steps Based on an article I read, How to Differentiate Instruction:… In Ed. Leadership, I will do more research. Differentiation in Writing Create a template to document how to differentiate a lesson Use writing rubrics to determine student achievement Design student surveys to assess response to differentiation strategies I have 3 sections of 7 th graders, I will try a different strategy in each section.

10 Specific Content ResearchSchool Situation Goal Curriculum Redesign my curriculum plan to reflect differentiation After reading Tomlinson’s work on differentiation, I can incorporate more into my curr. Maps. We can apply for curriculum writing staff development funds. This can support the time to write during summer. To complete my 7 th grade Lang. Arts curriculum map by August. Assessment Plan to include more formative asst. strategies in writing. After reading Assessing What Matters (Ed. Leadership), I see more frequent asst. and feedback is needed. I work with 3 sections of 7 th grade students with 25 in each section. Providing feedback is a problem. Planning is key. To have my unit plans reflect different due dates to accommodate more student conferencing providing feedback. Instruction Now students use the writing process, but I do very little in breaking down those steps. I need to provide mini lessons for each step. I’m reading Lucy Caulkin’s work on writing. She writes a lot about conferencing and finding time to conference with students. Given the number of students in each section. I want to experiment with peer coaching in writing. I may work with peer experts as well. To increase the time I spend with students talking about their writing instead of assessing their writing.
