My career is a safety Manager. The education you need is a certificate in occupational safety.

I chose my job because I was in the retail business for several years and I wanted a career change.

My goal when I first started my job as a safety manager was to insure that I am running a safe work environment for all employees.

To insure all training is up to date also to make also make sure equipment is properly inspected also Audits and week/ monthly expectations.

My job can be stressful at times when there is a serious accident on site.

It took a couple of years to get to my job as safety manager from a safety coordinator.

My job involves all kinds of training, train the trainer fall protection, train the trainer power line hazard and confined space.

Being a safety manager was not the job I always wanted. The job I always wanted was to be a police officer because safety wasn’t big back when I started out.

I first took a job as a sails manager for a sails company. My boss encouraged me to get my safety citificit.

The skill set you to be need for this job is you need to be good at presenting to a group of people on site or elsewhere.

Yes I would recommend this job to others. This job is rewarding, everyone goes to work and returns home safe to there family’s.

Yes, you can move from Safety Manager to a Director role. This position involves a higher designation in the Safety field and more people report to you.

I have been in the safety business for 7 years.

My job includes travelling to and from Long Harbour and various construction sites in the city.

My hours in my office are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday and when I travel to Long Harbour my hours are from 4:00am to 6:00pm

Yes, my job offers 3 weeks of vacation plus because its a Construction company they close for Christmas break which works out to be an extra 2 weeks vacation.

My work environment consists of indoors in an office and outdoors on the various construction sites

Some benefits of my job are attending Safety conferences all across Canada. I also sit on the NLCSA board of directors which stands for Newfoundland & Labrador Construction Safety Association.
