You will need to read with your child regularly at home. Please record in the orange reading record when you have read with your child. The children have access to ‘bugclub’ an online reading program. Please find their login details on the front of their reading record. Please help your child to complete their homework tasks, these will often be phonics based. Homework books can also be used as a communication book, if you have any messages for the class teacher. After half term we will be starting a reading club for reception. Please look out for further information.

REMEMBER: Phonics is not the only way you become a good reader. Continue to read with your child regularly, practising phonics and also encourage them to: Check reading makes sense, look at pictures clues. Ask questions about the book; Use the library. Have fun. Encourage independence, allow children time to try. Encourage them to use their sounds and actions to find the sound they need. Children can practise their phonics by playing games online. The children particularly like www.phonicsplay.com
