4 Works, Contributions and Influences Moritz CantorMarie Jahoda Primary areas of work of both was not Mathematics BUT Taught history of mathematics in university and was a famous historian of mathematics Taught psychology in university and was a famous psychologist Both applied Mathematics in their areas of work BUT applied differently Studied and wrote books about the history of mathematics Use research methods and statistical methods to study areas in psychology and sociology Both wrote popular books which contributed greatly in their areas of work “Mathematical Contributions to the Cultural Life of the People” Four volumes of work which traces the history of mathematics up to 1799 “Research Methods in Social Relations” “Marienthal: the sociography of an unemployed community”

5 Moritz CantorMarie Jahoda Both of their work contributed greatly to the society The four volumes of book covered a vast field and contained a lot of information for later references. It is the greatest work on the general history of mathematics so far. The research methods applied in psychology were very useful in later studies. The theory and findings were influential and provided insights to later studies in psychology and sociology. Works, Contributions and Influences

6 Conclusion Cantor and Jahoda came from different time and of different genders. Cantor was a man who died in 1920s while Jahoda was a woman who died in 2001. But, both had applied mathematics on their work and contributed greatly to the society. Their areas of expertise are different, one is a historian of mathematics while the other is a psychology. An interesting coincidence is that both of them lived up to 90 years old and are Jewish persons and Judaism.
