Roman Republic Representative Democracy: Citizens elect representatives to make laws on their behalf 2 Consuls were elected to be head of the government with powers such as leading the military. This is similar to our President. The Senate was the elected law-making body. Representatives were elected at the Assembly. Women, slaves, and those born in the provinces were not allowed to vote.
