Jogs 6.5 miles every day except Saturday Saturday jogs 8.5 miles 3 weeks Sun 6.5 Mon 6.5 Tue 6.5 Wed 6.5 Thur 6.5 Fri 6.5 Sat 8.5 Total 47.5 mi/week I made a chart of how many miles Scott ran each day of the week. Then, I added up the miles and got a total of 47.5 miles each week. Next, I added 47.5 three times to see how many miles Scott runs in three weeks. 47.5 +47.5 142.5 In 3 weeks, Scott will have run 142.5 miles.

10 Quiz WEDNESDAY Over the weekend, Halverson had put together 3/16 of a jigsaw puzzle, while Jaime put together 5/8 of the puzzle. Who completed a greater fraction of the jigsaw puzzle, and by how much?

11 Over the weekend, Halverson had put together 3/16 of a jigsaw puzzle, while Jaime put together 5/8 of the puzzle. Who had completed a greater fraction of the jigsaw puzzle, and by how much? Which person worked more of the puzzle? How much more? Halverson 3/16 Jaime 5/8 greater First, I compared 3/16 and 5/8 by finding a common denominator and found that 5/8 (10/16) was the greater amount. Then, I subtracted 3/16 from 10/16 to find the difference. Jaime Halverson Jaime worked more of the puzzle than Halverson. Jaime worked 7/16 more of the puzzle.

15 Quiz THURSDAY At the Farmer’s Market, Mary sold baskets of peaches in the morning and baskets of peaches in the afternoon. How much more did Mary sell in the morning than in the afternoon?

16 At the Farmer’s Market, Mary sold 1 3/8 baskets of peaches in the morning and 1 ¼ baskets of peaches in the afternoon. How much more did Mary sell in the morning than in the afternoon? Mary sold how much more before 12pm than she did after 12pm? Sold 1 3/8 morning Sold 1 ¼ afternoon How much more? I subtracted 1 ¼ from 1 3/8 by changing the mixed numbers to improper fractions and then finding the common denominator. Mary sold 1/8 more peaches before 12 pm than she did after 12 pm.

How long did it take Jamie to complete her homework? 1 1/3 hrs before dinner 1/6 hour after dinner I added 1 1/3 to 1/6 by changing 1 1/3 to an improper fraction and then finding the common denominator. It took Jamie 1 ½ hours to complete her homework.
