2 What is a traineeship? An education and training programme with work experience that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. lasting from six weeks to a maximum of 6 months depending on the needs of the individual and they include: Work experience placement Work preparation training English and Maths support Flexible to include addition training

3 Traineeships-Who are they for? Need intensive Support (long way from Job Market) Apprenticeship/ Job Ready Need Support but; “work ready” in 6 months Initial Assessment is Key English & Maths Work Experience & Preparation-CV-Flexible

4 Traineeship Numbers FSR Traineeships starts first quarter of 2014-15 There were 5,000 starts Aug – Oct 14 A total of 10,400 in the whole of 2013-14 7,000 of the latter were aged under 19.

5 What is needed from an employer? Commitment to a high quality work experience placement, lasting at least 6 weeks – to include: A structured opportunity for the young person Allow for the development of new skills and behaviours. Provide coaching and training and regular feedback No pay but to support trainees with expenses such as transport and meals. Once completed: Ideally, an interview for a position. If no job opportunity in the business, provide a meaningful exit interview together and a reference.
