2 At the centre of Christian worship, by the command of Christ is the remembering together of the death and resurrection of Christ through the taking and setting of ordinary bread and wine to be effective signs and symbols of God’s love in Holy Communion. (Steven Croft)

3 Communion and Passover Ex.12 The Passover Ex.12:13 The significance of the blood of the lamb. The blood has an inbuilt sign in the face of destruction and death – Traffic Diverted! BP – blood protects! Protects us from the wrath of God and the plague of sin because without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sin.

4 Communion and Passover Jn.1:29 – Behold the Lamb of God… Mk.14:12-16 & Lk.21:7-20 - The last supper and the command to “..do this in remembrance of me”. Jn.19:33,34 – Blood and water. 1Cor.5:7 – Christ is our Passover Lamb.

5 Communion and Passover Remembrance of our redemption. Reassurance of our protection. Re-acquaintance with the ‘host’. Closing verse: “For you were redeemed…with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” (1Pet1:18,19).
