The Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) enables an organization to license Microsoft products and use them to provide software services to its customers. Payment term Monthly reporting and payment based on actual usage No upfront commitment required Annual price protection Eligibility MSPP certified partner MSPP registered partner and enrolled in Microsoft Hosting Program

SPLA Features Internal use Customer demonstrations
Default allows for internal use if such use is less than 50% of the total use of product (calculated product by product) each month Customer demonstrations Allows service provider to dedicate 50 active user IDs in order to demonstrate software services to prospective customers without need to report use Customer evaluations Allows free use of product by end customer on a trial basis for up to 60 days Evaluation and testing Default allows service provider to test and evaluate software product without need to report use for up to 90 days Server administrators Default allows 20 server administrators per data center

Microsoft Services Provider Licensing Model
The Microsoft software products included in the program are available for licensing through two models: Subscriber Access License (SAL) Per Processor License (PL) Flexibility For products that can be licensed in either PL or SAL, the service provider can switch licensing mode from one month to another. Note: as of today only Windows Server and SQL Server are available in both license models

SPLA Model Subscriber Access License (SAL) Per Processor License (PL)
A SAL is generally required for each unique individual who is authorized to use the software in any given month Not all products are available to be licensed in the SAL mode Benefits of the Per Subscriber model include: Subscribers can access any number of servers Service providers have minimal start-up costs Per Processor License (PL) An unlimited number of end users can use the software running on a single CPU for each processor license acquired Some products are not available to be licensed in the PL mode Benefits of the Processor License Model include: Processor licenses are easier to monitor and count Processor licenses replace Internet Connector licenses

Microsoft Services Provider License Program is a worldwide program. Eligibility: Enroll in the Microsoft Partner Program as a Registered Member as well as enroll in the Microsoft Hosting Program. OR Enroll in the Microsoft Partner Program as a Certified Partner
