Making a Line Graph Open Excel to a new worksheet Type in your team’s information –Normal “resting” heart rate in one row –“Recovery” readings in another row Be sure to include headings like this sample: Do NOT leave any cells empty between rows and columns.

Select the entire range of cells with data and click on the Chart Wizard in the toolbar.

Choose a line graph that shows data points: Then click on the button called Next>

The graph should look okay with the selected data, so click on Next>.

Fill in your title and labels for your X and Y axes: Then click on Next>.

The chart will be put into the worksheet as an object by default. Click on Finish.

You can make the graph larger by dragging the handles on the outside edges: Formatting the Graph

You can “right-click” on different areas of the graph to bring up menus for formatting. You may want to make the plot area a different color other than gray.

You will format the RESTING heart rate lines to be dotted lines with NO markers. Make each person’s two lines the SAME color so it’s easier to see their information. To do this, right-click on a line and choose “Format Data Series...”

You can change the Y-axis to show a different scale… 5 …or you can even change the minimum and maximum values that are shown 50
