3  8.40 am- School Door Opens  8.50 am-School Starts  9:00 am- After this time children are marked as late.  9.30 am- Any child who arrives after this time is marked absent on the roll. The School Day

4  Children should be in school every day unless they are ill.  Appointments to outside agencies should be made for after school times where possible.  The school cannot give permission to parents to take children out of school for holidays.  A note of explanation must be given to teachers detailing reason for absence.  You can fill in one of the slips at the back of the Homework Journal. Absences

5  Please make sure that your child has a drink each day. An additional drink may be required on PE days or if he/she is attending an after school club.  Sometimes children find it difficult to finish one large yogurt, maybe send two small pots instead.  Treat day is on a Friday. We advise the children to eat their lunch first before they eat their treat. A treat should be a small item such as a bar or slice of cake. Lunch

8 Oral Language  What good listening looks like, stretch a sentence by adding an adjective, Fortunately/Unfortunately, Phone a friend, Make an ad, Interviews, 20 questions Debates, Listen, remember and say/draw/add on, Mime, Barrier Games  Oral language lessons connected to the writing genres. 9  The Oxford Reading Tree Scheme is available to all children. When reading the books the emphasis is not only on the child’s ability to read the words, but also on being able to comprehend what has happened in the story. An emphasis on punctuation and expression should be encouraged when reading.  As a supplementary reader children are encouraged to take a class library book home.  In class we will be reading novels both in groups and as a whole class. 17  Children must wear comfortable clothes and runners.Crocs and wellingtons are not safe for sports activities.  Shoes need to be waterfproof and they need to allow children to be able to move freely in them. Physical Education

18 In place of religious instruction programmes, which are taught in denominational schools, Educate Together schools teach the Educate Together Curriculum. This curriculum has four strands:  Moral and Spiritual  Equality and Justice  Belief Systems  Ethics and the Environment Learn Together Programme

22  Homework written in journal daily.  Completed in full every night  If it is not completed, it is done in Golden Time on Friday.  Parents can help by….  Having a consistent time for homework  Quiet place equipped with everything they need (pencils, rubber, colours etc)  Checking homework is completed  Time how long it takes each night.  Signing your child’s journal every night  If your child is experiencing difficulty, come and speak to me and we can discuss ways to help.
