+ Technology The 1970’s saw the advent of small cars. Development of cars which were light in weight, fuel-efficient and also environment friendly. The microwave oven became popular. Computers developed to the first microprocessor which made video games more popular. + Art Performance arts: Chris Burden, during the performance of his 1974 piece called Trans- fixed, was nailed to the back of a Volkswagen In the 1971s painting Shoot, Chris Burden was shot in his left arm from a 5-meter distance. Vito Accona also gave a radical performance in his art installation Seedbed, which was interactive with the audience. There was a book called Expanded Cinema that was written by Gene Youngblood. It discussed a shift in the types of media used by artists, and introduces the idea that video is an art medium.
