A majority of what we do in the class room has been picked up through our years of attending workshops, conferences, and internet searches. We have modified to fit the needs of our teachers and school. We thank all of you who contributed by allowing us to take and extend your ideas.

Students today need motivation in order to want to learn and do their best. In part 1, we discussed how the structure of the class can lead to motivation or mayhem. In part 2, we will discuss incentives, rewards, and things you can do outside of the classroom to motivate students.

One evening in the fall Follow one of three themes: Camping, Racing, Luau Parents are given details about the math class and expectations for the students Parents have an opportunity to experience the types of questions the students are responsible for

Go to all the stations, and look at the types of questions the students are responsible for Once they complete every station, they may visit the Snack stand Leave the completed sheet Question ColorGrade Level of Student 6 th Grade 7 th Grade 8 th Grade

Use money for Incentive Parties, motivation prizes, & TAKS goody bags Pie in the Face: $.25/vote Teacher with most votes gets the pie Water Balloon Dodge Ball: $.50/balloon Teachers vs. Students Dance: $3.00/ticket; Food, drinks, and novelty items for additional cost

In the spring we put on TAKS Pep Rallies in order to PUMP the kids up to ACE the big test!

Students Earn Math Bucks & Passes for various reasons Students can deposit math bucks into a checking account to buy passes & other items. Keep deposit/withdrawal log Calculate tax on items Calculate discount (if given) Write check

Snack Coupon This coupon entitles you to bring your favorite snack to math class. You are responsible for cleaning up any mess that may occur. Drink Coupon This coupon entitles you to bring your favorite drink to math class. You are responsible for cleaning up any mess that may occur. Math Bucks

Students Earn Stars: Star Chart Big Stars Star Chart Stars: Turning in weekly work on time Big Stars in hall: 5 stars on chart A’s on test Improvement
