K-12 PTO Why do we have K-12 PTO? Once upon a time, there were PTOs at each school- Pittaway (K), Warren (1-3), Mindess (4-6), and Ashland Jr/Sr High School (7-12). Parents felt it was very difficult to be involved when they had multiple children who did not all attend the same school. There was also talk at that time of reconfiguring grades (half of 3 rd moved over to Mindess while half stayed at Warren) and parents felt it was just easier to have 1 overall board across all schools – K- 8. Several years after that, the superintendent asked that the PTO include high school in their organization as we had just finished building a new high school. He wanted the PTO to represent all of our children in our schools and therefore, we became the Ashland K-12 PTO.

K-12 PTO What is the benefit of being K-12? Parents can help raise money and be involved at all levels regardless of what grades/school their children attend. One K-12 Board means only one group is filing taxes, managing budget, updating the website, and publicizing events. Allows for a central location/entity for people to seek out knowledge of events and volunteer opportunities. Allows schools to work together for all of our students, not having one school compete with each other from funds, especially considering many families have children at multiple schools.

K-12 PTO Proposed Finances: General PTO account is divided equally amount the 3 PTOs. Fees and expenses are paid out of this account. Fundraisers that target a given school go back into that schools PTO budget. Money remaining after Enrichments are allocated is given out as grants to the teachers and staff of that school. Grant money is determined by Principals and PTO VPs. 3 General PTO Account Warren School AMS/AHS Mindess School
