ACOT In 1985 Apple Computer Inc. conducted an experiment called ACOT, “Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow” The project was an educational study in which different aspects of technology in education were enforced and used in several schools.
3
ACOT Research The research demonstrated that the introduction of technology to classrooms significantly increased the potential for learning. It was used to support collaboration, information access, and the expression and representation of students’ thoughts and ideas.
4
How it worked? Instead of having two personal computers per classroom, schools were with foundations and organizations to provide laptops for every student. This allowed teachers to use technology in a broader spectrum to help students develop higher-level, critical thinking skills.
5
Benefits/ Goals Using audio books help promote self esteem due to improvement with reading fluency. Excellent solution for teachers trying to instruct students at different learning levels. Inspires student motivation and leadership
6
My proposal I propose to assemble direct usage of laptops to students. If approved, I plan on distributing laptops to every student, as a test drive. Each student will be assigned a laptop in the beginning of the year Students are assigned laptops in direct linkage with their lunch number This will allow us to serve consequences to students who damage, abuse their privilege or steal property.
7
Schedule If approved, I plan on implementing the usage of the laptops for about a year. According to how well the program runs, will determine if the use of the laptops will continue or be terminated. If the program runs well, Iphones’, iPods', Ipads’ etc. will be implemented.
8
Usage of the laptops/learning purposes Students and teachers will train for about 2 months. During training students and teachers will be trained on using different learning software, i.e. “Sunflower Learning”. Laptops will be used as reading, listening guides, and communication tools (students via teachers). As well as a use for students to finish missing or absent work.
9
Used across grade levels I want to begin the program in high schools due to the level of responsibility. Then work my way down.
10
Large numbers of students Not all students benefit in a classroom especially with a larger amount of students. This is where the program will come into play. Students struggling in the classroom will use this program as a resource. Students will also have the chance to make up any missing or late work with the technology.
11
Cost/ Vendor Info. Vendor : HP Costs: $399.99 per laptops Form fundraisers to help pay for laptops Ask local vendors to help fund us

Technology “Technology is no longer a luxury in the classroom, it’ s a necessity.” Technology allows for more inquiry- based learning. Due to technology, nowadays students can broaden their horizons by exploring the many facets on the web. Or even write or record podcasts on different topics. Technology makes everything endless.
